If anyone would like to prepare some random facts for a “Random Facts with F.A.C.E.s segment”, such preparation would be appreciated. We may have a call regarding such on Sunday afternoon or evening.

Manalive Smith has laid claim to the question “Can we also get a hot air balloon and follow the footsteps of the Jules Verne novel?” and hopefully will deliver with an answer. However, his absence from Skype means that this is still in question.

The questions that have already been answered revolve around “water towers”, “dumped in the woods”, and “sweet tea”.

Today I was reading the Bible in John 11:16. In the English versions I’m familiar with, the verse says that Thomas’s nickname is “Didymus”. However, today I was reading it in German and found that the nickname was “Zwilling”, which is the German word for “Twin”. I then looked and found other English translations that render the nickname as “Twin”. I immediately investigated and found that “Thomas” (an Aramaic name) and “Didymus” (a Greek name) both mean “Twin”.

According to my research, there is no explanation on whether he actually had a twin or if he looked close enough to someone else to be nicknamed “Twin” or if his parents named him “Twin” just for the fun of it (tradition says his real name may have been Jude, Judas, or Judah, but there’s no confirmation on that).

I’m not saying we should start calling him “Twin Thomas” because it sounds like “Twin Towers” and the names of “Apostle Thomas” or “Doubting Thomas” are sufficiently descriptive names, but I was mildly surprised in my brief research to find that there really hasn’t ever been a time when English speakers decided to capitalize upon the alliterative opportunity to call him “Twin Thomas” on a regular basis.

This is the first time I’ve heard of a Mole Cricket named Not-Gerald.

Few things:
1. The largest creature I ever dissected was a frog. While it pales in comparison to some of y’all’s stories, I’m okay with that. I’d rather not dissect any more than I have to. I have seen human cadavers, though, but the preservatives used smell so strong that there’s no temptation to linger there longer than you must.
2. Kristen would have enjoyed the 6.5 hour Skype call, where the F.A.C.E.s got to see Manalive and Yeast interact in real life, as they were on a single device for the call. It was high quality entertainment.
3. I’ve never seen Tingle look dejected before.
