No problem. (I’m glad you didn’t even need the requested reminder.)

Hopefully AP recorded her “EVERYTHING” today and sent it in.

I’d say a pillow that doubles as another pillow might be possible using a duplication station.

I’m fine with tonight, Sunday night, or Monday night (even all three). I guess it mainly depends on when Franklin is available, since he will be the one setting up the group chat.

I also thought of a cool idea for a segment that we could each record separately and send in to Franklin, with hopefully minimal work for everyone else besides Franklin and I, so stay tuned for more word on that later this weekend. (It is dependent upon whether I get a certain amount of audio recorded this afternoon.)

Whenever we do it, we should have a rough plan heading into the session of what we wish to accomplish during the call so that we are efficient with our time. It can digress, but a plan heading in will help ensure that we get some of the content that we’re looking for in this holiday special. (i.e. which games do we want to try, do we want to record a commercial live, do we want to answer a question or two as a group, how long do we want to set a timer for for each segment, etc.)

I’m still thinking we need a script for the commercial part, but maybe a group session would spark new creativity that we haven’t observed so far in the production process.

I’m pretty flexible…it just depends on how long it takes for me to get Skype to work for me. I’m even up for trying to make it work both days just so that there’s more opportunity for usable recorded material.

I read both books for American Literature class back in high school and liked Fahrenheit 451 better than the Great Gatsby. Weirdly, though, I disliked the Great Gatsby enough that I remember it better than I remember Fahrenheit 451. Interesting how memory is tied to the magnitude of emotions rather than how positive they are.

Oh, I just thought of something: If a Skype call does take place, we’ll probably have to make sure Franklin has the Skype contact information and have him initiate the call, since all the tutorials I see suggest that a caller has to be added, rather than just “showing up” to a group call session. Maybe I’m wrong (as I’m still figuring this out), but maybe an expert Skyper can tell me if this is accurate.

    Go for it, Josiah. #FunIdea

My final word on what Poulet Frit was talking about: The definition for the term on Wikipedia was much more sinister than what you explained you were actually talking about, Kristen, which is why I reacted more strongly than you were expecting. Know that any strong reaction on my part is because I’m looking out for you, not trying to bash you. Your clarification was beneficial. As for Masøn’s summary, demonology is the study of demons, not believing that demons exist. (You knew that, but anyone stumbling upon this thread might misunderstand that without this clarification.)

Back to the Holiday Special: I’m going to see if I can get Skype to work for me (I’ve never actually set it up myself) so that I might be able to Skype with any F.A.C.E.s who wish to Skype this weekend, either to record material or discuss potential material to record or both. If I can get it working, I’ll let y’all know.

I think your explanation provides the necessary context, Kristen. (For the record, I originally thought you had asked for books on “dermatology” or “dentistry” when I skimmed what you had written, which added to my shock when I re-read your post.)

Also, Kristen, why would you waste your time reading books by demonologists? I’d rather read the Book by the one who defeated the demons. He inspired the following to be recorded: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

Check out Episode 007, 16:50-19:44 (Fun Fact: they mention “Kristen’s Questions” at the beginning of that clip; not sure if Franklin wants to find a way to re-purpose that audio clip or not). That’s the first one with the mention of Botswana. I remember there’s another episode later where Matthew mentions “Botswana” in the reading of a question, but I haven’t located that episode.

Ooh, hearing Masøn’s list makes me think about random facts about Botswana. I’m not sure if I actually want to record that, though, or just ask Masøn to add that to his list.

I just realized that if you listen carefully to the music that plays in the background of Matt & Ryan when they say “coming up, in this episode”, a nine-syllables-per-line set of lyrics would fit. It’s tough music to sing along to, but the words would fit.

    “AABBCC” means there are six lines in a verse; lines 1 & 2 rhyme, lines 3 & 4 rhyme, lines 5 & 6 rhyme, but 1 & 2 don’t rhyme with 3, 4, 5, or 6, lines 3 & 4 don’t rhyme with 1, 2, 5, or 6, and lines 5 & 6 don’t rhyme with 1, 2, 3, or 4.

For comparison, a limerick typically has an AABBA rhyming scheme with five lines in a verse; lines 1, 2, & 5 rhyme and lines 3 & 4 rhyme but 1, 2, & 5 don’t rhyme with lines 3 or 4.

If you feel real ambitious, I put the opening dialogue into lyric form with 9 syllables per line using an AABBCC rhyming scheme:
“Hey, let’s listen to this song on blast!”
“No way, man, it’s time for a podcast”
“Wait, wait, which one shall we listen to?”
“Just give me the Aux Cable. Thank you.
Now it’s plugged in and ready to go
Time to sit back and enjoy the show”

    (Hey, those two posts rhyme!)

Do whatever you are comfortable with, but I’d say instrumental for sure, since that would be more versatile. You are more than welcome to do both.

That’s a good idea, Rebekah. I also just sent Franklin a recording of my rendition of the show’s opening dialogue “Theme song” in case we wanted to edit together some FACES saying that part. You know, the
“Hey, listen to this cool, hip, rad song, man!”
“No way, man. We’re listening to a podcast instead.”
    “Wait, wait…which one?”
“Here-here. Just give me the Aux Cable. You’ll love it.”
“The Aux Cable has been plugged in and now so are you.”
    “I am?”
    “Yeah.”
    “Oh, okay. Sweet.”
part of the show. (Only I replaced “cool, hip, rad song” with “Christmas Carol” in my rendition, since it is a holiday special.)

    Thanks for the report, Franklin!

It could be that you have to record the transition, Franklin, since you are the only one who trubely knows how everything fits together. Otherwise an idea would be to play a certain sound effect to signal a transition (like Inner Tube Episode 087 does).

Do you want us to secure the actual show intro music from the hosts, or have us record ourselves doing it? Of course, we could go with more Christmasy-sounding background music for this holiday special, but the “Here, just plug in the Aux Cable; you’ll love it” etc. dialogue should be there in some shape or form.
