Oh, good. Glad you weren’t stuck moving across-country at Christmas time. That would be much more stressful.

I’m glad you all enjoyed it. 😀

[By the way, I just looked up the word “ovation” and found out that it comes from the Latin “ovo” (which means “I rejoice”) and originally referred to the celebration that a general in the Roman army received after winning a war against a less impressive opponent than would warrant a “triumph” (the greatest of recognition celebrations). It seems like the “ovation” was a “great job, but we expected you to win” celebration whereas the “triumph” was an “amazing; it took your best to win that war” type of celebration. Interesting how the word “ovation” in English now means “to give applause and cheer” as opposed to a whole celebration ceremony. I guess it was originally a hyperbole to compliment how a crowd reacted to a staged performance, but it was used enough in that context that eventually the meaning of the word was affected.]

You’re moving, AP? Will it involve a time zone change or is it not that far of a move?

I saw that Angie posted a meme to the Aux Cable Facebook page today… #thatmomentwhen I’m wondering: did she hear our episode and become inspired to post the meme or was it posted because she doesn’t know about the “Aux Cable Holiday Special: Fan Edition”? Maybe she could post the link to the episode there on that page, since I saw the meme “liked” by two individuals who don’t frequent the Not-Forum…

*I meant “selfishly”, not “secretly” (because it’s not a secret when I write it here on the Not-Forum).

I’m secretly hoping it’s longer than a meme, gif, or a vine-length video, but even one of those would be appreciated.

My original intent was to simply write “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!” in this space, but then the phrase caused me to look up “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. Naturally, reading such a brilliant piece of art inspired me to imitate it, so I delayed my slumber and composed the following parody:

‘Twas the night before AuxCon, when no F.A.C.E. could sleep
Not a creature was stirring, nor making a peep
The smart phones were placed on the nightstands with care
In hopes that their alarms would soon start to blare
The creatures were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of word games danced in their heads
And Ryan in his Beanie, and Matt in his Tuque
Had just settled their brains for a night without spook
When on the Not-For’m there arose such a clatter
I looked at my phone to see what was the matter
Away to the browser I flew like a flash
Opened up more tabs, on my screen I did mash
The moon that reflected upon my window
Gave little help to enhance my screen’s vibrant glow
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a thund’rous noise: The Day fin’ly here!
With a swift swipe of my phone, so lively and quick,
    I knew in a moment I hadn’t slept a lick
More rapid than hawks, to AuxCon F.A.C.E.s came
And I whistled and shouted and called them by name:
“Now Kristen! Now Franklin! Now Manalive and Dawn!
On Josiah! On Rebekah! On Brooke” (and so on…)
“To the identification station! Don’t stall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
As fast as lightning did Angie verify
While F.A.C.E.s discussed nacreous clouds in the sky
So then, when all present, the conf’rence began
With customary greetings and shaking of hands
And then in a twinkling, I heard at the door
A knocking and yelling from one person more
As I drew in my hand from shaking another
The AuxCon hosts let in the dear Christian brother
He was dressed in a shirt from his neck to his waist
And his shirt indicated to us his good taste
A bundle of games was flung on his back
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack
His countenance so bright! His eyes- how they glistened!
The image of a man on his shirt said “IT’S CHRIIIIIIIISSSTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAANNNN”
His name written down was spelled like this: “Masøn”
And the beard of his chin had been freshly shaven
The effects of toothpaste shown on his teeth
And the smell, it encircled his breath like a wreath
He held a straight face, and with a heart full of glee
That man caused a laugh when he said this pun to me:
“When they are chubby and plump, as much as allow’d
Two raindrops are company, but three are a cloud.”
A wink of his eye and a nod of his head
Reassured me that I had nothing to dread
Then AuxCon began, and we all went to work
At making memories and enjoying each perk
That came along with having well-built rapport
Each perquisite gave e’en more joy than before!
Then AuxCon was done, its conclusion was reached
And away we all went, with many farewells screeched.
But I heard them exclaim as they drove out of sight-
“It was good to see y’all! We’ll do this again, right?”

I’m sure you could write a better parody upon reading the original poem (and feel free to do so; I really like the style of the original poem), but this is what I came up with short-notice. I tried to match as much of the original rhymes, wordings, and meter as possible, but I took plenty of liberties where convenient.

Merry Christmas, Fanatical Aux Cable Enthusiasts!

WHAT!?! – The color that communicates emotional state visually (since certain auditory information is lost in a visual-only display).

(Since I’ve listened to this podcast a third time on a third different device and I’m hoping that getting some of my thoughts out will make it easier for me to stop listening and go to sleep…)

It is time for an official statement from the office of the HOWDAREYOU:

The “Aux Cable Holiday Special: Fan Edition”, a concept that had not even been conceived one month ago, is a resounding success!

    *Standing Ovation*

Franklin did an amazing job taking our audio and assembling it into a functional podcast episode. There’s more that we would have liked to have done with this project, but considering all of the time restrictions that we each had, this turned out far better than any of us could have wished for.

Massive thanks to everyone who contributed to the episode in some way, shape, or form! Every single clip that made it into the final cut was excellent and appropriate, contributing greatly to the quality of the episode.

Time to appreciate how God blessed this project:
It did not arise from any one person’s desire to put on a production. Instead, a collective wish to improve the Not-Forum experience by means of a new Aux Cable episode led to the inquiry of Matthew & Ryan’s podcast release-schedule plans. When none were found, our sense of what is right and acceptable drove us to attempt something none of us had done before: produce an Aux Cable episode without Ryan, Matthew, Angie, or a time to talk to each other simultaneously. We did not stop to think, “how is this project even going to be possible”; we just did it, giving our best efforts to the cause, discussing solutions on the Not-Forum to obstacles as they arose. It wasn’t about having the “perfect podcast”; it was about making a podcast episode befitting of the Aux Cable with the best that we had.

Did we learn some things from this experience? Absolutely. We’ll probably reflect on some of them if we decide to do another episode in the future or if we attempt an audio production of our “Once Upon A Time” story. That being said, it is good for us to appreciate what we were able accomplish with God’s help (in spite of our shortcomings and limitations):
-An authentic Aux Cable intro imitation with multiple F.A.C.E.s
-The neatest “EVERYTHING” in the history of the Aux Cable
-Kristen’s Questions were actual questions from Kristen and were answered with wit, wisdom, humor, self-awareness, personal stories, and Google by Jeff Ross, Awkward Potato, Bekah, & Josiah the Carrot Stick
-A brilliant classic-style commercial by Franklin
-Pointless Facts (the part of the show that felt the most like it was inspired by the Not-Forum) with Masøn & Bekah, brought to us by Google & Snapple (Highlight: nacreous clouds)
-Editor’s Choice: compiled by Franklin, creative and fun answers from Jeff Ross, Dawn, Franklin, Bekah, & Chris H…
-An outro that contained all of the information that an Aux Cable outro normally has
-A published podcast episode over 20 minutes long

Whether this is enough to motivate Matthew and Ryan to release more episodes soon is unclear. Whether it will drive traffic to the Not-Forum is unknown. Whether we shall put together another podcast is uncertain. But be assured of this: for the office of the HOWDAREYOU, the experience of working with F.A.C.E.s to make this episode was the coolest part of being on the Not-Forum in 2017. THANK YOU, F.A.C.E.S!!!!

I suppose if you wanted to release the segment as bonus content, you could. The “deleted” segment could even replace the traditional Aux Cable Outtakes if you wanted to, or be released prior to the release of the actual podcast in order to make sure everything works the way it’s supposed to. Such a concept reminds me of the old Inner Tube “Web Extra” clips.

As for publishing, will you be able to send the finished podcast file to everyone directly? Is it a small enough file to send via e-mail? I think having a large file is the main reason you’d have to publish it somewhere other than auxcableshow.com first before Matthew or Ryan would be able to publish it here.

If Ryan and Matthew are willing to release it on the website (or at least link to it/promote it here), then I don’t think it matters tube much where it is initially published. Wherever Franklin is comfortable releasing it, hopefully in a spot that’s relatively easy to download from, should work for me. I haven’t done much research into what the options are for publishing, but I can if you want me to.

As for the Episode Map, it looks pretty good. (Thanks so much for posting it, Franklin!) I’m fine with omitting the poetry segment, as it was more “filler” than anything. Franklin, do you have enough audio for the intro/outro/any transitions, or do you want anyhing more recorded now that you have a better picture of what the episode will look like? (Just double-checking that you have everything you need.)

Okay. Maybe sometime this weekend you can give us a brief update, Franklin, on where the project stands. I’m sure we’re much closer to completion than we were at the last major update, which was nine says ago. I’m wondering what we still need to send in so that you have what you need for a complete show.
