English is basically what happens when you take a handful of Germanic languages and shove them in a blender with French for a while.

    …the accuracy of that hurts

If we think Germans sound grunty? What do they think we sound like?

The blender in question is named Norman.

German doesn’t sound like it comes from the back of your throat, but it feels like it.
Does anybody else know German?? Am I making sense???

Manalive, that is a wonderful description.

The Normans ruled over England for a few hundred years. The upper classes spoke French, and the lower classes kept speaking Germanic. You can still see the distinction in English. Everyday words like water or bread sound German; fancy words like poultry or venison sound French. It also explains why the English hated the French for such a long time.

That makes sense. When I took french, some words were easier…

Hey, manalive. I’m sitting on my phone at work, but it’s ok, cuz my manager is also on her phone and we had an argument about zombies earlier

I know some German. You’re making a little sense. What German phrases do you know? Don’t worry about misspelling, I can probably piece together what you mean (though I might still correct your spelling and grammar).

How about I type it in english.
    I’m hungry
    I’m thirsty
Sit, lay down, other dog commands.
My mom taught me how to say “where’s the beer” but I forgot it

I sadly know how to say “where’s the beer” in Russian. I probably butcher the pronunciation, though

Kristen wins round 3.1 3-1 over Brooke AC. Brooke, you get an imaginary participation plaque! Kristen advances to the championship, and will face the winner of round 3.2! Incidentally, voting for round 3.2, Josiah the Carrot Stick v. Superchris01, is now live!
