For the characters realism and likeability are what I most care about. I want them to feel like real people I could meet, and if I have to spend I whole book with them I don’t want to hate them. I’m not a fan of selfish characters and also really don’t like it when a character suddenly stops acting like themselves so that they can push the plot along. For plot I think the most important thing is to make sure that it matters. By that I mean that what happens in chapter four affects what happens in chapter five, actions have repercussions and the outcome of the events should matter to the characters. I think it’s pointless when there are pieces of the story that don’t matter to either me or the characters. As for the writing style I believe clarity and brevity are the most important. You should convey what you mean to convey and respect your reader’s time.

Tolkien still manages to do pretty darn well without a ton of brevity, though.

Very true. Cursed Child was nothing special, but the first seven were phenomenal.

Don’t forget about Potatopuff and Carrotclaw (Mason came up with Carrotclaw, not me).

I feel like those could both be foods. A potatopuff is easy to envision, it’s like a tater tot, but I can’t decide whether a carrotclaw would be a healthier variant of a bearclaw pastry, or if it would just be a pointy arrangement of carrots.

I would not want to eat a slytherkristen though. Maybe a slytherkrispytreat or a slytherkrispycream doughnut.

Both Franklindor and Fishdor just sound like a very specialized sort of entrance.

Carrotclaw would be a bearclaw but like…carrot cake kinda…

Would it have lots of frosting? I generally try to avoid carrot cake, because it tastes like carrots, but I’m sure I could stomach it with lots of frosting.

all the carrot cake I’ve had had a huge layer of frosting. It’s the only way I’ll eat it.

Or alternatively we could just not eat it. Try pudding, or pie, or tiramisu, or just actual cake. Protect me from vegetables! (No offense, Josiah).

Fruit is like vegetables and dessert had a baby?
Can I quote that to people?
I don’t really like veggies or fruit. But I eat them, I just don’t admit to it.
