I am game to organize it again.
RIP I forgot about this, should I set up a bracket?
Only if you want to. 🙂
Do we want to do single elimination or double elimination?
If we have 16 spots again I have a tentative list, are there any amendments that I should make?
Awkward Potato
Bekah
Brooke
Dawn
Franklin
Jeff Ross
JellyfishFlower
Josiah
Joshua S
Kristen
Kumquat
Manalive
Masøn
Ryan’s Grandma
SuperChris
Yeast
That’s everyone I can think of.
What about Angie? I don’t remember if her status as “Groot the Phantom of the Forum” qualifies her or if her status as “Aux Cable Social Media Manager” disqualifies her from the tournament.
I think her status as Media Specialist would disqualify her.
Okay. The only other two I can think of that would have a chance at making that short list are Sarah Iddings and Caleb Packo.
Maybe Chris Howard.
Hmm… should I replace Ryan’s Grandma with Caleb? Given her lack of status as a Not-forum member she’s the only one I would feel comfortable removing.
Hmm… perhaps Chris Howard.
I’d switch Caleb Packo in place of Ryan’s Grandma and call it good. I think that would fill the field with creatures that would identify as “F.A.C.E.s” and have a chance at competing in the tournament.
Alright, sounds good. I’ll try and draw up a bracket to be as fair as possible.
I know it’s just because of how brackets tend to work, but I think this needs to be said in regards to the number of F.A.C.E.s in the tournament:
Ooh, we’re up to 16 now! 😀
Haha true. Some of these matchups aren’t going to be completely fair, but there’s not really anything I can do about that. It’s really only a matter of who falls to Kristen when.
There’s going to be some really well contested matchups that could go either way, though, even just in the first round.
Do we wish to clutter up the Not-forum with individual threads again, or should we use strawpoll.me?
That could be a good idea.
So I just re-read the threads with last year’s FACEoff and I’m thinking that we should have the polling on the Not-Forum for tube reasons:
1. Caleb Packo & Rex Stauss made appearances in the 1.1 matchup thread. Such a rarity on the Not-Forum at present.
2. It’s quite interesting to look at the votes and the rationales from the past to think about how much has changed since then.
However, I would consider the alternatives of one thread per round or one new thread for the whole event, if clutter is a concern [for future “Tingle-ing”].
Here is a playlist of the matchup threads from last year’s FACEoff if anyone wants to read them in order without having to locate them (They are all quick reads at present):
Josiah the Carrot Stick v. Riseofthekumquat (March FACEoff 2.3)
Josiah the Carrot Stick v. Superchris01 (March FACEoff FINAL FOUR Match #2)
MARCH FACEOFF CHAMPIONSHIP (Kristen v. Josiah the Carrot Stick)
Of course, to trubely appreciate the context of the event, you’ll want to read these threads as well:
Now that I’ve done all that catching-up, I’m looking forward to seeing how this FACEoff is different and how it turns out. I mean, Franklin managed to go from not even being in the tournament to receiving a vote in the final last time. Quite the unexpected plot twist. 😀
I think one thread a round would also be very confusing and cluttered, but perhaps not. It seems like it would be simplest to create March FACEoff 2.0 thread and run it from there.
Indeed
I’ll try to get this thing rolling within the next couple of days; I don’t have time tonight.
Voting for the first matchup has commenced; the first round matchups are as follows.
Kristen v. JFF
Manalive v. Jeff
Brooke v. Bekah
Dawn v. Joshua S
Josiah v. SuperChris
Awkward Potato v. Franklin
Masøn v. Kumquat
Explosive Yeast v. Caleb Packo
Tough match-ups all the way around. Excellent job designing the brackets Josiah. 🙂
Thanks! I tried to make it as even as possible, though there was only just so much that I could do.
I hope I get a rematch with Brooke…
how exactly does this work? I am thinking we all go against someone, kind of like brackets and then winners vs. winners until we have it all placed out. Can you vote for your opponent or yourself?
Oh bother, I should’ve tried to work that in. She’s going to have to beat Kristen for that to happen.
Yes, I have a bracket that is as evenly distributed as possible; no, you cannot vote if you are in a matchup.
(You’re not supposed to vote if you’re in a matchup. I’m not sure if Josiah has a mechanism built-in for catching violators of this principle because the voting isn’t taking place on the Not-Forum itself.)
(I do not, I’m trusting that people will have enough integrity not to do so.)
