So moral of the story, don’t use the ‘li’ option…
Pretty much.

I think we need to establish some rules for the magic system. It doesn’t need to be a hard magic system, but we do need to give some idea of what’s possible so that there can be tension in these scenes.
Just to pitch an idea out there, since a lot of the spells have revolved around the word “phobia,” what if the Time Lord magic system allowed for Time Lords to use a certain roster of spells based on their own fears and insecurities? There’s a hard set number of spells that they can naturally cast and other spells require the use of magic items or stealing other beings magical essence.
Characters may try to expand the size of their rosters or implement magic systems from other dimensions/worlds, but without the essence to sustain this kind of power there are harsh consequences (ie Lord Kumquat’s whole situation).
Can’t you just write some rules into the story and then everyone has to follow them until not convenient to do so any more? Or would that cause some unintended consequences?
I’m thinking that this upcoming bit with Lord Kumquat and Peter would be a good time to insert the rules. Peter is completely new to magic and he’s just now discovering how they work. LK could explain the relevance of essence and why Peter specifically is best suited to counter Kristen.
Right now it doesn’t happen until it’s written in, it’s not a part of the story. It sounds like it would be interesting though.
What spells have we seen so far? I know we’ve got Pyrophobia for shooting fire/energy out of your hands, then there was that spell that Kristen kept using that I can’t remember the name of, there’s teleportation, and then there’s the ability to change your appearance/physical form. Have we shown any other magical abilities?
Peter used magic of sorts with out saying anything. Of course he was in a simulation, but somehow I doubt it was part of that…
Well, Peter’s the main character, of course he can use any magic whenever. He’s he chosen one.
Hehe, you forgot a “t”.
Further proving my point on my latest “Once Upon A Time Part 1”
Bless you Kumquat for redeeming the story from the hole I wrote it into XD
So I think we’re more than halfway through the story at this point. We’ve set up a bunch of stuff, now I just think we need to start having things pay off.
The endgame is the final battle, where Chris, Peter, and everyone else faces off against Kristen.
After that point, we can call this a finished story for a while until some crazy lunatic tries to make a sequel to this a few years from now.
Sequel? How’d be crazy enough to do that? Not… me…
Psh, sequels are so 10 years ago… Prequels are where it’s at…
Or an ACHU (bless you) – Aux Cable Humongous Universe…
I wrote over three pages, and it needs editing real bad.
With Troy’s latest post, have we finally reached the climax of the story?
I don’t know where everyone else is with story arcs that they wanted to finish, but I still haven’t gotten to Peter’s training or what Kumquat’s deal is.
And then on top of that, we need a final conflict with Kristen.
I just read the newest entry of the story. I’m not sure why it took me a while to get to it but it did.
What just happened in the story could be the climax. As it is now, it isn’t. It could be depending on how the next entries are presented and how the characters are dealt with though. It does seem to indicate that the story is at least winding up for the climax.
