(Zachary?) (If that’s the case, you share a middle name with someone I know)

    Such Veggie Tales. Many reference.
Mason, you should change your middle name to Zazzamarandabo.

Random useless fact that nobody cares about:
The Biscuit of Zazzamarandabo was co-written by Andrew Peterson and Randall Goodgame. Peterson also wrote the Wingfeather Saga.

    #7536 *I

Josiah, comment #7536 contains an ellipsis, so you cannot assume that the “i” in that comment referred to the first person singular pronoun, as it could be interpreted as the start of a different word that begins with “i”.

True, however, in context, it makes more grammatical sense for it to have been the word “I.”

Trube, but in context, you shouldn’t try to fix a comment someone else wrote that is six months old unless it needs fixing. The way it is formatted doesn’t require any adjustments whatsoever. It would have been slightly more permissible if you had made the correction right away, but attempting that particular correction now reeks of fault-finding and attention-seeking rather than trying to be helpful.

I’m sure you had the best intentions at heart, Josiah, but this type of correction would be taken as an insult by most native English speakers if done in the real world. #NowYouKnow #BetterToLearnHereThanExperientially

Oh, no, I’m so sorry, Masøn. I didn’t mean to drop your mic.

*Picks up mic and hands back to Masøn.*

Here you go. That’s a really nice microphone. Is it a Sennheiser?

    Pardon me for my confusion:

“Throwing shade” is a concept that I still do not fully grasp, being from a slightly older generation. I try not to be demeaning or derogatory; instead I try to edify and instruct to improve others. Sometimes people take that as “showing someone up”, but that’s not my intent. I am still unsure whether labeling things like “mic drops” and “sick burns” make a correction easier to receive or more distracting from the substance of the message, simply because I’m not from a culture that handles or discusses conflict that way.

To be clear: my intent was not to make Josiah look bad, but to help him know that there’s more to helping people than pointing out mistakes. Timeliness, appropriateness, and importance all factor into the equation.

If you’re saying that I sullied the good name of Josiah the Carrot Stick, please forgive me. If you’re saying that I said what needed to be said in an excellent and appropriate manner, then I accept the compliment. If the microphone wasn’t a Sennheiser, let me know what it actually was.
