This is basically how I talk in real life. I never say anything when you want me to, and when you want me to be quiet I won’t shut up.

An interchange with a friend (for lack of a better word; he’s several years older than me and I don’t actually know him that well, but he’s more than an acquaitance) sums things up rather well:
Friend: So how have you been?
Me: Fine.
Friend: Whenever I have a conversation with a [last name], it’s either highly intellectual… or it’s what we just had.
Friend #2: That’s actually pretty accurate.
Uncle: That’s a gross over-simplification
