    Nobody, surprisingly, looked surprised.

“Yeah, makes sense now that you say it,” said Dawn.

    “Yup,” agreed Mason.

    “Definitely,” agreed Triste.

    “Indeed,” agreed Josiah.

(Okay, cool. I just wanted to make sure you weren’t annoyed at me for the way I portrayed you. By the way, Mason, nice job having me say indeed.)

(No I’m not annoyed. It’s a slightly exaggerated reaction of mine, but nonetheless accurate)

It was then that a strange, green-clad man walked into the tea shop and started smashing pots.
“MY POTS,” Peter’s still unnamed brother cried.
    “MY CABBAGES,” Mason cried.
“MY BROTHER IS CRAZY,” Peter cried.
“MY OH MY WHO IS THAT,” Dawn cried.
“MY EYES DECEIVE ME,” Triste cried.
    “MY HERO,” Josiah cried.
“HYUUUUUUUUT HAH,” the green-clad man cried.

The green-clad man seemed deaf to the cries of the adventurers, and continued to smash pots. Out of the last one, a beautiful gem appeared. Within a moment the green jewel was in green-clad man’s hand. Josiah approached this peculiar man reverently.

“Link?” Josiah asked with a slight tremble in his voice, in awe that his favorite character was before him.

The man, who was apparently named Link, appeared to not hear him, and strode through him and out of the building. Josiah gasped in shock (it’s always unnerving to have someone phase through you no matter how many times it has happened before.

“Yeah, he’s kinda a regular around here… He never talks. No one really knows much about him. But he’s been in the valley’s legends for hundreds of years. He’s quite a mysterious character. From what we gather from the parchments, his name is, like, Zelda or something,” said Triste

Josiah slowly turned his body towards Triste, and simply stared at her with a look of disappointment and sadness in his eyes for what she had just said.

    Dawn patted Josiah reassuringly.

    “I know, it’s okay..”

    “IT’S NOT OKAY”

“hush, I don’t even know that much about LoZ.” Dawn cast a glance over to Triste and said with a note of shock, “but I at least can recognize Link even when I’m not from here.” Dawn suddenly glimmered a deep maroon and then went to a sky blue. “Well, I guess we already knew that.”

Mason cast a glance over to Triste. “Hey are you okay? You don’t look too great.”

Triste took a gulp of air and then somehow calmly said “The idea of milk always makes me ill. Just think of the poison you’re putting in your body! How revolting.”

“Do you ever eat ice cream though?”

(Deep maroon=horrification, sky blue=calming self, warm yellow=comforting others)

“Sometimes, I mostly eat Gelato and Taco Bell, though.”
    “Nice!”
    “Yeah!”
“Shall we go explore?” Josiah said “You may come with us if you like, o great Peter’s Brother. Sorry, what was your name?”

Casually, he grabbed a fedora and placed it on his head on an angle. He offered a secretive grin, corrected the fedora and said, “You can call me Manalive. Manalive Smith.”

Peter started laughing. “If you’re Manalive Smith, I’m Explosive Yeast.”

It was clearly their inside joke, as everyone else simply looked confused.

“So, how’s Carlos been doing?” inquired ‘Manalive’.

    Suddenly, the laughing stopped.

    “He’s… Um, well… I… I don’t know… You see…”

He stopped, choked up and unable to continue.

(Carrot, are there any, like, quest givers in the valley cause I really think they need a direction… I feel like the city is a distant memory at this point…)

Triste excused herself from the group, citing the call of nature.

She went outside the shop and behind some foliage. Quickly she pulled out a mirror and cast a spell to contact her closest ally.

“Mirror mirror in my hand, where is Brooke in the land?”

“Hello?” A clear voice rang out and slowly a face came into focus.

Triste’s brow knit in confusion as Zelda came into focus. “Who is this?” she demanded.

“Oh hi Kristen! It’s Brooke! I managed to make myself look like and sound like Zelda! I’ve been rehearsing all the lines she says. I should be able to give them good directions when they arrive.” Brooke nearly sang out this phrase.

Kristen breathed a sigh of relief. “Be sure to call me Triste. It’s going to be hard enough if they catch me casting a spell. Did the dissembling and memory scrambling spells work?”

Brooke’s side of the mirror shook slightly and her eyes darted to the right. She declared “Yes. At full strength, like you said.”

“Thank you Brooke. I trust my Sphynxes are in the best of care?” Kristen’s voice turned incredibly soft when she talked about her precious kitties.

    Brooke nodded vigorously “Yes!”

Kristen gave a satisfied nod, bade Brooke farewell, and ended the call.

“Mirror mirror, without a blur. Go back to the way you were.”

(Hang on, I thought it was Link that they saw, not Zelda. Link is a guy, not a girl.)

(Yeah, re-reading it it was definitely Link that they saw. Someone mistook his name for Zelda in order to give the full clue away for who it was.)

(I think it was just a reference to the fact that people call Link Zelda sometimes because they don’t know what his name is. But I could be wrong.)
