Not to completely put down the fancast idea, but Blimey Cow is a 400,000+ YouTube channel that has been making videos consistently since 2011. They have a massive audience that would be interested in talking about their videos on a weekly basis. making an Aux Cable fancast would be marketing to a nitche within a nitche. I’m completely onboard with starting a podcast, but it would need to be able to stand on its own at least a little bit.
And my only experience editing audio is when I sent in that question to The Inner Tube, where I filmed myself and converted it to audio format, but that came out fairly decent.
Kumquat. What you in college for? (Assuming you are in college)
Film Production
(I feel like English is involved. Because that was extremely…full of facts)
Oohh. Ok. So you know what you are talking about (unlike me who has never recorded anything ever)
I agree that hosts meeting each other is a good idea. However, who knows when Auxcablecon would even happen…
True. But something like auxcablecon would be safer than just…meeting a stranger you met on the Internet at a Starbucks.
I doubt an Aux Cable Con would happen, but something like Blimey Con would probably be a lot more likely…
…but blimey con, you gotta give on patreon for that right?
Doesn’t one have to be a Patreon patron of Blimey Cow to go to Blimey Con?
I don’t think Ryan and Matthew can get a +3 (or more) to blimey con either
Probably not.
I think we might have to put the idea of having our own podcast on the back burner for now. Because of money issues, etc.
I think it’s much more likely that we would be allowed to take over an episode (which means we don’t have to pay for editing software or anything)
Start small, while the larger pieces fall into place. If that makes sense
I’m a college student in California, so I don’t see any opportunity where I’d be able to meet in real life. Sorry if that’s a complete dealbreaker, would love to support this idea though.
If you guys wanted to continue the long term planning, I just started up another thread.
Don’t get me wrong, though. I think having our own podcast would be amazing…it just might be a while.
Ryan and Matthews took like…several months if not a year, before they put out the first episode.
It just sunk in that yall nominated me for president. That means a lot, thank yall
Guys, Ryan wrote about starting a podcast.
Like I said, who else would be President of TOPHAT? Also, thanks for finding that blog post.
Am I the only person pronouncing TOPHAT in my head like “toe fat?”
“Too fat”**
Well we could change the name to TOP-HAT. Or come up with a better name because the jumble of words that make up the acronym is really awful.
In reality, the words should be well assembled, and the acronym should follow. For example, I once started an organization called the Nominally Intergalactic Reconnaissance Division. It didn’t quite spell nerd, but it came close enough and the name was cool enough that it worked.
I like the acronym and how it doesn’t make sense. It can be the secret top hat project. Nobody will know what’s going on except those in the top hat society..
Thats a good point.
The problem is that the actual name is so clunky that I don’t even remember what it is right of the top of my head (pun intended).
So, we should probably either come up with better words to fit the acronym TOP-HAT, or come up with another inanimate object.
I don’t remember either.
Hmmm…
I think it was the Taking Over the Podcast [adverb that starts with h] Awesome Team.
Taking
