1) Despise was maybe too strong a word. Basically what I meant was that mission trips are fantastic as long as the missions part is why youāre going. I totally agree God will reach a student in a different land but so often Iāve seen the message be more āIām so lucky to have so much; Iām so glad I can help this poor person!ā More than ā I am leaving my home and comfort zone to go and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by giving time and effort to help someone elseā. Itās the first one that goes with fists closed that I donāt like. The second is more likely to go with hands open and say āuse meā.
2) My church was originally first baptist and then we changed the name to a more generic āwelcomingā name. Itās funny going places and needing to say āno we are the ones from the other townā.
