I totally plan on reading them, but my family has always been one of the no-Harry-Potter ones. It’s fine, and I get where they’re coming from, but they still don’t want me to read it quite yet. Honor your father and mother, kids! (Or as my little brother used to say, “Ephesians 6:1 Leave your parents alone!)”
