The question “Dallas” sent in…made me sort of angry. You can get a good job, without college. I don’t have to go to college to advance in my career. I can become an Enrolled Agent without college (I am going to do college just to fill my time with something, and possibly become a CPA) (EA’s make $20 an hour, typically 45,000 annually starting out)
But college is not what it used to be, you used to need it to get a good paying job, now all they care about is experience and hard work.
Yes we should listen to our parents, but think about the parents that are terrible parents (abusive etc), their kids should not listen to a word they say. Or the people that think that the government is watching them, their kids shouldn’t listen to them…why do we make exceptions to “obey your mother and father” with them, but not parents that rules that make NO sense?
If the guy can support a family with his job and they love each other and the relationship was built on firm Biblical grounds, by all means, marry her! Do not go into debt!! The father will forgive them eventually.
