In which we discuss… why am I even bothering to explain this thread?

The series I’m currently reading is the Beyonders by Brandon Mull. They’re pretty interesting, if a little unnecessarily wordy. It’s a trilogy and I’m almost done with the second one.

    Sounds familiar… what’s it about?

A couple kids, Rachel and Jason, end up in Lyrian, a world that has an oppressive wizard ruler. In the first book they try to find a key Word that will destroy him. I don’t want to say any more because it might be considered spoiling.

Hmm… I’ll have to see if my brother has read it. I feel like he might have…

I think you’d enjoy them. Anyway, how about you? Read any good books recently?

Not any non school books… but I did get to read some pretty darn good books for Lit. this year. The Hobbit and the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe were the last ones I read… let me know if you want a full list of the good books I read this year, there’s more than normal.

Awkward, did you think the second book in the Beyonders trilogy was necessary?

To Carrot: Yeah, a list would be nice. I’ve read LOTR and the Hobbit each a couple times, and Narnia is the best!
To Dawn: I actually just checked out Heartless! I haven’t started it yet though. Frank Peretti is really good, although I’ve only read a couple of his books. I’ve heard of Artemis Fowl but haven’t read them yet. As far as the Beyonders, I don’t know if the second book was necessary, I haven’t read all of them yet! 🙂 I’m almost done with the second one.

Okay, the Lit. books I read this year were:
    The Hobbit
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    The Chosen
    Animal Farm
    Fahrenheit 451
    Citizen of the Galaxy
    I, Robot
    Old Man and the Sea
    The Pearl
    The Glass Menagerie
    The Crucible
    The Cherry Orchard
    The Great Gatsby

Sounds like you have a good lit course. I just finished rereading the first Artemis Fowl and it’s even more perfect the fifth time. I can’t recommend those enough. (Though the author started slacking off at around book seven. I think the story would have been pretty well completed with Time Paradox). I really loved Fablehaven and the first Beyonders book (it certainly got the word Arimfexendrapuse stuck in my head), but I felt like the second and third books added little to the story. Candy Shop War is by the same author, Brandon Mull, and it is one of my all time favorites.

Oh, I’ve read most of Candy Shop War. I stopped near the end because I was too weirded out by the main character turning into different people.
