Hey everyone!
So first, FANTASTIC job to the amazing fans who put together the Aux Cable Fancast for Christmas. It was an amazing Christmas present for both of us, and you all did a great job on it. https://soundcloud.com/auxcable-fans/auxcable-fancast-christmas-special
We want to share it with everyone so all the Aces, Faces, and other members of the Auxi Clan.
So poll:
1. We share the Soundcloud link as a blog post.
2. We upload the file as a special Aux Cable episode (with the creators’ permission of course).
I don’t have a preference.
I mean… How could I say no to 2 ?
^True.
Either or is fine with me, though I wasn’t as involved in the episode as other people.
Both options are cool, but I share sentiments with Mason.
Why not do both? If we can’t do both I vote to post it as a real episode. I think that’s what we were originally planning and it would pretty epic
I think it would be better to post it on here as a special episode, because that way it’s stored with the rest of the podcast episodes. But I’m fine with either option.
I would really appreciate it if the episode were re-uploaded as a special episode, and here’s why:
1. I just heard back from Sarah Iddings who did not know the episode existed because it had not shown up in her iTunes feed. Since some people rely on podcast feeds, it would be nice if they had this surprise show up there.
2. Not everyone uses soundcloud to listen to podcasts (it’s just the platform that we had access to), so re-uploading it to the website will make the episode more accessible to more people who use different methods of podcast listening.
3. Re-uploading it to the website would mark the episode as official, and people binge-listening to old Aux Cable episodes will be sure to listen to our fan episode. [This also means that anything from the #AuxCableFan episode can be referenced in future Aux Cable episodes (such as the ever-popular “nacreous clouds”) and the listening audience can be expected to know where that comes from.]
4. It may provide a stronger incentive for more people to come visit the Not-Forum, which is the main reason that the Aux Cable will survive this current hiatus. If they find the episode on the website, they’ll surely be able to find the Not-Forum.
5. We didn’t make the episode to compete against the Aux Cable (nor do we have any desires to do so); we made it for the Aux Cable. Re-uploading it as a special episode is what we wanted all along. Since there is no monetization station at play here, re-uploading shouldn’t be a problem.
All this being said, I’ll be happy either way. 😀 For me, the experience was more significant than whether this episode is canonized or not.
This is why you’re the HOWDAREYOU… Or the HO- as it has now been confirmed to be. That was a beautifully explained… explanation…
Very well worded, Jeff.
Sarah was messaging me while she listened to it. She absolutely loves it!!
Personally I don’t use soundcloud. And though that isn’t a factor as to why I haven’t listened to it yet (I hate being busy all the time), it is a factor as to whether I would listen to it when binging ACS episodes.
As a fan, I say reupload it
I just wanted to confirm the second line of the post above, as Sarah told me that she was texting Kristen while listening, so Kristen got many of her reactions first-hand. If you’re looking for a full Sarah Iddings testimonial on the episode, here is what she sent me after listening to it:
“That was fun! ? Haha y’all made me smile. And I love how basically all the questions were from Kristen ? And you even got Chris Howard in! Way cool! For not having much for audio experience y’all did fab ?? … Also really love the part about getting them [Botswana] citizenships ? And the question about sending random people Christmas cards… I kinda want to do that now >.> Even though it’s not Christmas anymore. Which might make it even funnier really.
Nice job!”
After hearing about some of the “behind-the-scenes” on the project, she said:
“Respect to you all for your hard work and organization ??Also tell your editor he did a fab job ?”
Her reactions are strong proof that re-uploading the episode (in order to reach the most A.C.E.s & F.A.C.E.s as possible) is the way to go. (See point one of my previous post.)
You never did mention how Chris Howard wound up on the show.
That wasn’t my fault…he sent you the audio and you edited him in. 😉

But why did he send audio? How did YOU specifically know he would?
(Oops.)
I’m becoming more and more confused/intrigued by Jeff’s ability to accomplish random things with high-up people.
What if Jeff IS Chris ?
Or maybe Jeff can mind control…
Hmm…
Then that would mean besides using a different voice, he also purposefully used a different mic.
If he can mind control, then what is the distance in which it is effective?
It’s not really my ability. To God be the glory, great things He has done. (And no, I’m not Chris himself, nor can I mind control.)
I’d love to say I got Chris Howard on the show because of my personal connection to him or my name recognition or because I’m such a great guy, or because I used Inner Tube references around him or because I have mind control powers or because I have outstanding impersonation skills. However, the fact is I simply tailored an opportunity for him to participate, I offered him the opportunity, I prepared in case he said “yes”, and he decided to take advantage of the opportunity. I specifically reached out to Chris because he has been on the Aux Cable show multiple times (even making a cameo in last year’s CHRIS-tmas special), he’s good friends with Ryan and Matthew, he would understand this “fan” project better than most people, and the question he would get the opportunity to answer was one that he might want to answer. I didn’t have high expectations because of the timing of when we were making the production (it was the week of Hanukkah and he was working on his 2017 video), but I knew that he, being an experienced producer of content, wouldn’t have to put much work into making the segment, so there’d be a chance that he’d like to participate and do it.
I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be cool if…” and did my best to make it happen while being respectful of the other people involved. That’s really what we all did when it came to this podcast episode. 🙂
To be honest, I thought word had leaked out ahead of time when Josiah wrote in comment #36433, “Chris will try to send in a segment tomorrow.” right after I had received confirmation from Chris Howard that he wanted to participate. I didn’t realize that Josiah was probably referring to superchris01. (Side note: I surely hope that superchris01 & Explosive Yeast get their segments submitted and featured in the next one of these that we decide to do, should we decide to do another one. I saw them in the preparation stages and looked forward to their segments but noticed that they weren’t in the episode.)
Ah, makes sense.
Seems like a good explanation at first…
But then I realized Jeff’s picture is totally different right after possibly exposing him as a shape-shifter… Coincidence? I think not…
Actually, it may change one or tube more times. I’m making some profile adjustments while I have the time.
Don’t worry, though…I’m saving the old profile pictures that I’ve had so that I can use them later if I so choose.
Wait who is Sarah again? Should I be excited that she talked about my section because I am
Sarah is a hardcore F.A.C.E., having appeared in episodes 014 & 020 of the show.
Ahh ok I remember her now. Sorry this is a Bekah version of running on five hours of sleep and being awake for almost 18 hours. Yippee! At work I hit the stage where I was trying to stay awake and I got all hyper and we were watching one of my favorite movies… lion king..: man the kids liked that version of myself… I belted out all the songs especially Hakuns matada
Sounds like a F.A.C.E. to me. ;D
